Position Summary
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, providing technical support to end-users, and collaborating with other business units to optimize system performance. The IT Systems Administrator ensures the performance, security, and integrity of the credit union's technology environment, proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities to minimize downtime.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and security protocols, to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's vulnerability management process, ensuring consistent compliance with security policies and best practices.
- Plan and schedule regular updates, patches, and system upgrades to safeguard against security threats.
- Evaluate, test, and validate new software releases, configurations, and updates before deployment to minimize disruption.
- Install, configure, and manage system software, applications, and hardware as needed.
- Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and access controls to safeguard sensitive information and critical systems.
- Continuously monitor security threats and emerging technologies, proactively addressing vulnerabilities.
- Perform routine system backups and implement disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, IT policies, procedures, and asset inventories to ensure accurate and up-to-date records for auditing and compliance purposes.
- Provide expert-level technical support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues, both remotely and on-site, while offering guidance on best practices.
- Create and maintain user manuals and technical guidelines for IT systems and applications, providing training as necessary.
- Oversee network monitoring systems, ensuring that all critical systems are tracked in real-time and that alerts are properly routed to the relevant teams to maintain system uptime.
- Lead or participate in complex IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure design initiatives.
- Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in daily operations and problem-solving, adapting to the evolving needs of the organization without direct supervision.
- Managing, testing, and validating emergency power for Data Centers and Branch Network Closets to protect and ensure availability and uptime.
- Provides excellent member service for users, members, and management both in person and during remote support situations.
- Exercises independent judgment, initiative, and attention to detail as well as the ability to function well in a rapidly changing environment with little direct supervision.

- On-call as necessary.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Industry certifications are preferred (i.e. CompTIA N+, Security+, Server+, Microsoft, VMware, etc.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a financial institution or credit union setting.
- Strong knowledge of server and network infrastructure, security protocols, and IT best practices.
- Proficiency in system administration tools and scripting languages.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid license are mandatory as there will be occasional travel to remote sites to provide support.
- Able to lift 50lbs and comfortable sitting or standing for long periods if necessary.
