Types of Loans:
- Subsidized Stafford Loans – Loans are based on financial need. You will not be charged any interest before you begin repayment or during deferment. The federal government subsidizes the interest during these periods. Repayment is deferred until six months after student is no longer enrolled or drops below half time status.
- Unsubsidized Stafford Loans – Loans are not awarded on the basis of need. You will be charged interest from the time the loan is disbursed until it is paid in full. Repayment is deferred until six months after student is no longer enrolled or drops below half time status.
- PLUS (Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students) – Loans are made to parents, with approved credit. Parents may borrow the cost of education less other financial aid. Federal PLUS loans go into repayment immediately unless the borrower has an outstanding loan prior to 7/1/93.
